What is Sober Living?
"Sober living" is a transitional step between discharge from clinical detox and going home. It’s a structured, peer-managed environment where abstinence from drugs and alcohol, recovery support meeting attendance and completion of assigned household chores is mandatory. The goal of sober living is to teach people how to maintain sobriety, making relapse less likely when they eventually return home.
Dante’s Place generally has about 4-5 residents per house. The length of stay is up to the resident, who can choose to leave at any time. Each of our homes is led by a “House Lead”, a peer with several consecutive months of sobriety. Our Operations Manager/House Manager oversees the House Leads. The Executive Director holds the Operations Manager/House Manager accountable.
All residents are expected to participate in outpatient treatment, such as counseling. Some use medication assisted treatment (MAT), a combination of FDA-approved medications and therapy to treat substance use disorder. As they progress, the residents gradually resume their normal responsibilities like work and school.
Better sober living.
The recovery community where respect and no excuses changes lives.
